Abuse Intervention Program

Monmouth and Ocean County

Our Abuse Intervention Program is a series of 40 group sessions that meets one time per week for 90 minutes each session.  It is a highly structured, non-therapeutic program that prioritizes offender accountability, confronts cognitive-behavioral distortions that support the justification of the use of harm and coercive control, is victim-centered and works closely with a Coordinated Community Response (CCR).

Our groups are led by facilitators, all of whom are trained in both the Duluth and Emerge models of domestic abuse intervention, have taken 40 hours each of Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) and Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) training, and attend weekly meetings with abuse intervention program facilitators around the country to stay up-to-date on trends in the field.

We are funded by and collaborate with the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Division on Women (DOW) and are members of the New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence (NJCEDV) and the National Network of Abuse Intervention Programs (NNAIP).

We offer:

  • Services to primarily Ocean and Monmouth Counties but will consider individuals from other counties as space allows
  • Day and evening groups
  • English and Spanish speaking groups
  • Groups that serve all demographics and self-identifications
